Influence Landscapes - From Spatial to Conceptual Representations
نویسندگان
چکیده
In this paper we will present the concept of the ”Influence Landscape”, an extension to the current ”Influence Map” or ”Artificial Potential Field” that is commonly used in AI for Games. Influence Maps have previously only been used purely in relation to a spatial representation of the world and have been used to guide the movement of agents, avoiding dangerous areas and being drawn to rewarding areas. We will describe an extension to this principle that allows the computationally efficient process to be applied across a conceptual space, allowing the agent to perform basic reasoning in this efficient manner.

Conceptual domain of the matrix in fragmented landscapes.
In extensively modified landscapes, how the matrix is managed determines many conservation outcomes. Recent publications revise popular conceptions of a homogeneous and static matrix, yet we still lack an adequate conceptual model of the matrix. Here, we identify three core effects that influence patch-dependent species, through impacts associated with movement and dispersal, resource availabil...
متن کاملMental Timeline in Persian Speakers’ Co-speech Gestures based on Lakoff and Johnson’s Conceptual Metaphor Theory
One of the introduced conceptual metaphors is the metaphor of "time as space". Time as an abstract concept is conceptualized by a concrete concept like space. This conceptualization of time is also reflected in co-speech gestures. In this research, we try to find out what dimension and direction the mental timeline has in co-speech gestures and under the influence of which one of the metaphoric...
متن کاملMeaningfulness of Religious Language in the Light of Conceptual Metaphorical Use of Image Schema: A Cognitive Semantic Approach
According to modern religious studies, religions are rooted in certain metaphorical representations, so they are metaphorical in nature. This article aims to show, first, how conceptual metaphors employ image schemas to make our language meaningful, and then to assert that image-schematic structure of religious expressions, by which religious metaphors conceptualize abstract meanings, is the ba...
متن کاملCharacterizing the Human Imprint on Landscapes for Ecological Assessment
Human activity has altered natural landscape patterns and ecosystem functioning to varying degrees over the course of recorded history (Turner 1990). Even the act of “preserving” a wilderness landscape results from a societal decision based on the value placed on that landscape. Such acts, as with many ecosystem uses, rarely happen by accident. Therefore, in order to assess ecosystem function a...
متن کاملThe Representation of European Landscapes in Later Safavid Painting
From the middle of the Safavid era, with the expansion of relations with the West, European landscapes were used in various ways in the composition of paintings called “FARANGI-SAZI”. In this article, by adopting a hermeneutic approach, the epistemological context necessary for the emergence of “landscape painting” as an independent genre in European painting has been studied and then the trans...
